As you know the next Formula 1 season will feature Honda among their ranks. Unlike own team but as a driver, specifically McLaren-Honda. This union that years ago would live the golden age of both manufacturers in competition has led to rumors about a perfect couple McLaren-Honda also to the streets.
But the reality is quite different. For now, at least for now, McLaren will not use Honda engines in their road cars, which some had already begun to dream of putting on the table some sort of exclusive sports created from the collaboration of both. The reasons are relatively simple.
McLaren already have composite and future plans to launch new models range. They use their own motor and its halo car, the benchmark in terms of technology and hyper sports McLaren P1. No sense then launches a new model that recognizes its partnership with Honda F1 or below or above it.

On the other hand we have Honda could go for two quite different ways. One, relatedly, McLaren would provide an engine for some of its models, something highly unlikely given the intentions of the Japanese manufacturer to focus on hybrid technology and high-mass vehicles.
Moreover, future Honda NSX needs a reference engine, an engine with Honda seal for two reasons. The first is that they must sell their technology and therefore its image. The second, to go to McLaren to use your engine would be something quite funny considering its completely opposite relationship in the premier class.
You have to know what is the extent of agreement between McLaren-Honda and, above all, its duration. If we speak of a long collaboration is possible that in the long run yes see any sign of their joint work in dealerships, as well happened to the McLaren-Mercedes SLR long ago. For now, the collaboration focuses on the track, and next season we will see what result obtained in competition.
