Formula 1 may lose stage in Monza

Calendar of Formula 1 may disappear one of the oldest stages – the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Autodromo suffering financial difficulties, and if they can not be resolved until 2016, when the contract expires with Bernie Ecclestone, the Italian GP can move to another track or even change to another stage.

Circuit in Monza was opened in 1922. It is located near Milan, in the north of the capital of Italy. Formula 1 race held at this track since 1949, every year, not counting 1980, when the Italian Grand Prix was moved to Imola. Also at Monza repeatedly held and other sports championships. However, the years take their toll, 90-year-old race track can not do some redecorating and needs a major upgrade. Many events have already left this circuit, but Bernie Ecclestone put up with his deteriorating conditions, as stage of historical value to the Big Prizes. However, after 2016 its significance may be revised.

Money for the modernization of the Circuit found – about 20 million euros ready to invest Lobmardii government, provided that do not have to pay taxes with this. However, the Senate rejected it. At present, the motor racing track is jointly owned by the municipalities of Monza and Milan, but the city authorities no money for reconstruction. Circuit representatives are optimistic and confident that they can find funding. Meanwhile, the Italian Grand Prix – is not the only “significant” step in Formula 1, which was on the verge of departure from the calendar. Grand Prix of France and Belgium, for example, do not just come and go from the schedule.
