A team of scientists from the University of Cordoba, together with experts and corporations Graphenano Grabat Energy has developed a completely new type of batteries that are based on graphene. According to the Spaniards, their batteries are capable of providing mileage of 1,000 miles, while the required charging time is 8 minutes.
The creation of graphene allowed hopefully look at the future of electric cars and wearable art. One of the most promising inventions based on this material became the so-called super capacitor, which was created by American scientists from the University of California. The capacity of this drive is hundreds of times greater than conventional batteries. However, this source of energy can provide electricity only small-sized electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
Spanish scientists from the University of Cordoba declare that they have managed to create truly powerful graphene batteries for electric vehicles. According to them, the power and capacity of the battery allows the car to drive to a single “charge” of about 1000 kilometers, and for the restoration of full stock of electricity they just 8 minutes.
The inventors claim that after the mass production of their development, the battery cost can be reduced by 77% compared with the existing lithium-ion batteries. Furthermore, they are lighter and nearly four times longer than in existing analogues. It is also reported that the prototypes have been tested on several German car manufacturers and the release of the revolutionary energy sources could begin in 2015.
