Continental has developed a new version of the software eHorizon, which significantly improves the efficiency of cars
On the next in Las Vegas Electronics Show Sonsumer Electronics Show, Continental introduced a new “dynamic” version of the software eHorizon. It was developed in partnership with IBM and allows you to adjust the engine and transmission, depending on the road conditions, which saves fuel.
The new version of Dynamic eHorizon estimates in real time, not only the topography of the area, but also the weather conditions, “plug”, working traffic lights, road works, and many other factors. To improve the accuracy of GPS measurements is through a shared server from a variety of vehicles equipped with this software.
As a result eHorizon reduces fuel consumption by an average of 3%, which is especially important for trucks. Also, thanks to a clever “the pilot” eHorizon hybrid cars are able to increase your mileage by electric, the same applies to pure electric vehicles, including electric buses. All this saves money and improves the ecological situation.
Recall that the software company eHorizon Sontinental two years supplies well-known manufacturers of trucks – Scania. Here it is used in the adaptive cruise control, which adjusts the engine and transmission, depending on the topography. As a result of two years of application eHorizon helped save more than 63 million. Liters of diesel fuel into the atmosphere has not got 168 thousand. Tonnes of CO2, and the owners received an additional profit of 86 million Euro.
