Peugeot Citroen looking for partners to continue working on hybrid air

Peugeot Citroen looking for partners to continue working on hybrid air

Work on the project PSA Hybrid Air suspended until the French can not find partners with whom to share the cost. Earlier, the French business publication reported that the project does frozen until it reaches the commercial stage, but Peugeot Citroen denied these allegations.

Hybrid Air technology is the use of compressed air tanks, which store energy clusters installation during braking and the internal combustion engine. Hybrid allows you to spend about 2 liters per 100 kilometers and meets the requirements of the French government, which has made a call to the local automakers to create ecological powerplant. However, the project requires a solid investment – about 500 million euros. The company is itself not in the best financial condition, so needs a partner with whom to share the cost.

PSA has already turned to Ford and Dongfeng, but apparently enthusiastic response not met. French media also emphasized the fact that the project leader Karim Mokaddem left, and a team of 18 engineers dismissed. Press secretary confirmed the information, but said that the withdrawal Mokaddema was scheduled after the end of the development phase. Now turn on the phase of production, but the French need a partner. Previously, PSA Peugeot Citroen said that the technology may appear on production cars by 2016.

For the first time in the car Hybrid Air system was presented at the prototype Peugeot 208 Hybrid Air 2L at the Paris Motor Show.
