The Bavarians have shown a new generation of laser lights that can shine on the 600 meters in front of the car and it does not dazzle oncoming vehicles. New consumes 30% less energy than comparable halogen, xenon or LED lights. The first production models of the new optics will appear on the “charged” M-version of BMW in 2016.
The BMW Group is the first automaker to laser lights rigged production car. The pioneer was the hybrid i8. Several years later, the Bavarians have presented a new generation of high-tech optics, which should appear on the “emkah” in the next few years.
A press release from BMW states that the submitted laser lights is part of a unified system of intellectual illumination of the road, which includes the function of “illumination” invisible pedestrians and animals on the sidelines prior cornering lights (in conjunction with navigation system) and the possibility of reducing the intensity of light in their relation to other cars.
Each headlamp uses several blue lasers that emit light at the yellow phosphor plate. By intense irradiation, the phosphor emits bright white light and with the help of optical lenses it is scattered on the road in front of the machine.
At the same time, the system using the Selective Beam camera records the location of other vehicles on the road and adjusts the direction and intensity of the light beam in such a way as not to dazzle blocked.
In addition, in the present prototype BMW M4 installed new rear lights, equipped with energy-efficient OLED thickness 1.4 mm. At the same time, updated headlights can change the “pattern”, depending on the selected mode of movement. For example, in the normal state the maximum number of diodes activated, and in the “sports” include a thin strip of light focused.
BMW introduced laser lights with a range of light up to 600 meters
