Renault has prepared a new cheap hatchback for India

Compact state employees will be a completely new global model of “popular” car developed specifically for emerging markets – in Europe, the baby should not be expected, but the model is clearly important for the company: in India, the car will be the head of the Renault-Nissan alliance Carlos Ghosn.

As the portal Indian Autos Blog with reference to representative of Renault in India, the new state employees while it is codenamed XBA, but the production model that will present on May 20 is likely to be called Kayou. In India, a country which will debut for the new items, Kayou will compete with the local public sector Maruti Alto and Korean baby Hyundai Eon.


The car will be built on a new modular platform CMF-A. According to the portal, the same architecture Nissan uses to create the next Datsun models for the local market – small crossover codenamed I2. The movement of the car will be powered by a three-cylinder gasoline engine of 0.8 liters, which will be paired with a manual or robotised gearbox. But the diesel units will not get the car, as well as other models sold in India Renault.


The assembly of the car settled in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, in the factory of the alliance Renault Nissan. The manufacturer promises that the price of the car will be less than 400,000 rupees (about 5,600 euros).
