BMW Motorrad Japan is a project Ignite Straight Six

Masters of the land of the rising sun again presented their radically modified motorcycles that are based on the tourism model BMW K 1600 GTL with a six-cylinder engine of 1600 cc.

Two leading Japanese shops, Ken’s Factory Kenji Nagai and Hot-Dock Custom-Cycles Keiji Kawakita had been responsible for the creation of a completely unique interpretation of the six-cylinder BMW K 1600 GTL. In the end, the only thing that remains of motorcycles – is the engine and the frame. And in the case of creation Keiji Kawakita titled Juggernaut – even the front suspension BMW Motorrad Duolever.

Custom by Kenji Nagai called Ken’s Factory Special, has in its design hand-made aluminum fork of channel shape, using a modified column is far far ahead of the recommendation made in the style of motorcycle chopper. The original fairing K 1600 GTL has been completely replaced by a small aluminum housing enclosing a headlamp – and a standard rear subframe and seat have been replaced with new, low-lying and is also made from aluminum.

Kenji Nagai talks about his project: “At first I wanted to develop the idea of touring bike, making it a typical Bagger. However, just pick up and transform into a tourer Bagger would be too obvious, so I chose a completely different approach – and created the motorcycle-style digger. Long and narrow six-cylinder engine makes custom look even more convincing. ”

The optical effect achieved thanks to a small width and a radically low seat position, emphasizes the 23-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels. Skillfully manufactured aluminum parts, such as the case of the fuel tank body of a radiator and steering wheel complete the look of the motorcycle Kenji Nagai.

Project Juggernaut Keiji Kawakita different – compared with a motorcycle Kenji Nagai, he stands out for its aggressive look stressed. There is not a single trace of minimalism, and defiant appearance makes Juggernaut look like the hero of the movie “Mad Max” or imagination of Jules Verne. The skeleton of aluminum tubes makes the chassis K 1600 GTL wider devices on the sides of the fuel tank creating a combat appearance, and details such as the twin fog lights on the front wing, refer to the Enduro models BMW Motorrad GS.

The monumental appearance and underline the form of custom motorcycle was, according to Keiji Kawakita, inspired by the story: “I found an old photograph of the open cockpit cars that looked very futuristic for its time – and came to me the idea of making a bike that would create a similar impression. Looking at the front fork and suspension Duolever, I decided that I could do this on the basis of the motorcycle K 1600 GTL. But in fact, work on custom bikes was not just difficult – it was a real challenge. Even when I finished, I was not quite sure – I was able to do everything to the end. But this is the main idea of customizing, is not it? ”

In his spectacular style, the project Ignite Straight Six continues to support the best custom-studio in Japan. The company BMW Motorrad is looking forward to new projects under this program in the future.
