All were waiting for the launch of the new Cadillac ATS-VR at LA Auto Show and our desire to know the new sports coupe from the American brand were partially satiated by filtering the first photographs of the model. Nevertheless Cadillac has not advanced more information, but took the opportunity to present the most radical variant of the ATS range competition.

The Cadillac ATS-VR is the epitome of sportsmanship within the smaller range of the brand. It is a car with FIA GT3 homologation, for which they have had to make several changes. The differences between this model and other Cadillac ATS are so many that are practically speaking different car.

The aesthetic differences with the Cadillac ATS-VR Coupe are palpable. Despite using the same anti-roll bars and reinforced chassis, the bodywork has been widened with an aerodynamic kit of carbon fiber. The skirts, front splitter, front, door panels and rear bumper are this expensive while lightweight material

Under the hood would expect a genuinely American engine, a V8, but it is not. Instead a V6 3.6-liter Twin Turbo is ready to go out there and deliver its 600hp and over 700Nm of torque. Other modifications relating to the propeller are larger intercooler, programmable control unit and a side escape competition. Both the block and cylinder heads are aluminum and get the weight distribution of 49:51 having the Cadillac ATS-VR, gearbox transaxle has been placed in position, something no street ATS offers.

The sequential gearbox six-speed Xtrac Cadillac ATS-VR is signed and managed by a cam located behind the wheel. The self-locking rear differential and traction control provides many settings for driver choice. The BBS 18″ rims harbor 380mm disc brakes bitten by six-piston fixed calipers and 355mm front and four-piston rear tracks. The total weight of the assembly is 1.315 kg.
