While most European manufacturers are locked in a race for electric batteries, Toyota and Honda in Japan working on the development of electric fuel cell, hydrogen. In the second race took the lead Honda and Toyota in 2002 and put on the market in the form of leasing its first hydrogen model, the first FCX. In 2008 came the Honda FCX Clarity, a sedan oversized cars is one of the leaders in terms of fuel cell.

Now it’s time relay and the Japanese have the new Honda FCV concept. As replacement Honda FCX Clarity, the new model carries a step further specifications. Is the most important developments in the fuel cell, which in this generation is about 30% smaller than before and 60% improvement in performance compared to the previous stack. This reduction in size will allow both the electric motor and battery staying in the engine compartment. In this way the interior space is not subtracted and in the future would be easier to adapt this technology to all kinds of vehicles.

Another important improvement is found in the autonomy that a hydrogen tank can reach 700 km, compared to 460 miles from the Honda FCX Clarity. The tanks are filled in about three minutes, so the only downside to this technology, besides the price, is the zero net supply of hydrogen for cars. Know if hydrogen tanks have reduced their size to achieve greater trunk volume.
