That in 2007 Aston Martin Ford anticipated a problem as an independent brand that happened to be. For such a small manufacturer is a serious problem not having a larger back it up, so aware of it, the British company began looking for solutions. Solutions passing through closer ties with Daimler for these help them in the development of new models. Instead, Aston Martin gives the German firm from its shareholders.


Late last year the collaboration engine, it was confirmed that would be developed by AMG in exchange for 4% of the British brand. Later agreements were signed to share electronic components , in exchange for which Daimler increased its stake in the company to 5%. This might anticipate a takeover of Aston Martin by Daimler, but Dieter Zetsche, CEO of German Company has made it clear that Daimler does not gain control of the house of sports.

According to the manager, one of the reasons for not absorb Britain is the low volume of sales. While Mercedes sold more than one million cars annually, Aston Martin is around 4,000 units from Germany and did not believe they were able to greatly increase the volume. Another reason is to spend money directly, since Daimler has acquired a 5% stake in the Gaydon through various agreements. Recently sold 4% stake in Tesla Motors 613 million.


The agreements will benefit Aston Martin to develop new models and cost savings without investing large amounts of money. It is assumed that the platform of the future SUV brand that would be shared in 2017 with Mercedes. Andy Palmer, the new CEO of the firm intends to double the sales of the brand by 2018.
